본사찰은 전북에서 전생록하면 영험이 있는 보살로 통하는 유복희 보살이 1962년에 창건한 사찰임. 또한 전주에서 신도가 많기로 알려진 선린사는 그동안 조계종에 속해있다가 1987년 태고종으로 전적했음. 지금의 선린사 주지는 전생록의 아들인 혜안스님이 맡고 있으며 기린봉 가파른 중턱까지 차가 들어오게 길을 내고 신도의 왕래와 주변 산책코스로도 으뜸가는 곳임.
