신라 법흥왕 때 유일대사가 창건. 까치들이 톱밥과 나무조각을 물고가는 것을 뒤따라가니 연못에 톱밥을 떨어뜨리는데 못속을 보니 부처님이 있어 꺼내고 사찰을 지어 각연사라 칭하였음. 전 주지인 노유근 스님이 91~98년도까지 법당보수 및 요사, 삼성각, 종각, 선원 등을 신축.
