ㅇ전하는 유물로 보아 고려 초기에 창건된 것으로 보인다. 대웅전에 모셔진 약사불은 1940년에 계곡에서 발굴된 것으로 보주를 받들고 있는 모습을 하고 있으며 제작기법상 고려 초기의 유물로 보인다. 법당 서쪽 숲의 2층 옥개석까지 남아 있는 석탑 1기 역시 고려시대 유행하던 양식을 하고 있다. ㅇ1978년에는 요사채 부근 기와더미에서 ‘청주(淸州)’라는 명문이 새겨진 수키와가 출토되었는데, 청주라는 지명은 940년경(고려 태조 23)의 이 지역 지명으로 절의 역사를 보다 확실히 알 수 있게 되었다.
