Recorded origin, in the register's own words
창건연대는 문헌상 정확한 기록이 없으나 1600년경 그이전에 절이 있었는데 진묵대사가 주석하며 중건하였다는 진묵대사 유적판본에 기록되어 있음. 임진왜란때 대부분 파괴되어 근래에 중건하였으며 1985년 비구 이창희스님이 주지취임 후 주변환경을 정비하여 오늘에 이르고 있음.
