가락국때 장유화상이 창건했다고 전하며 임란으로 전소된 사찰을 인조22년(서기 1644)에 복원하면서 절 이름을 서림사라고도 하였으며 현재 사용하고 있는 은하사란 사명은 약 200여년 전에 중수하면서 불리어 졌다고 함.
