신라 성덕왕 19년에 창건 미륵당으로 세워졌다가 이종 숭불배유사상으로 없어지고 미륵불만 남아 있다가 1946.7.20 한자심에 의해 법당과 요사를 건립하고 1983.9.16일 유병숙 주지가 요사를 중수 현재에 이르고 있음
