안정사는 서기 654년(신라 태종무열왕 원년)에 원효대사가 창건한 고대 명찰로써 임진왜란의 병화로 일부소실되었다. 그후 여러 고승들의 노력으로 중건을 거듭하였으며, 대웅전은 단청에 팔작지붕을 갖춘 목조기와 건물로서 정면 3칸, 측면 3칸이다. 단층으로 채색한 외칠포, 내구포의 화려한 다포는 조선시대의 전형적인 사찰법당 건물임을 보여주고 있다.
