Recorded origin, in the register's own words

대한불교조계종 제12교구 본사인 해인사의 말사이다. 929년(신라 경순왕 3) 창건되었으나 이후의 연혁이 전하지 않아 자세한 역사는 알 수 없다. 1950년 6·25전쟁 때 불에 타자 동봉(東峰)이 이 절에 모셔 두었던 십육나한상을 인근 삼봉산 동룡동(東龍洞)으로 옮겼다가 1976년에 절을 중창한 뒤 다시 가져와 모셨다. 현존하는 건물로는 나한전과 요사채 등이 있다. 주전각이 나한전인 것으로 보아 나한도량임을 알 수 있으며, 내부에 십육나한상과 10구의 불상이 함께 모셔져 있다. 이들 불상은 모두 조선시대에 제작된 것으로 추정된다
