마을 북서쪽 1킬로 지점인 덕유산남쪽 기슭에있는 아담한 절이다. 신라 진덕여왕 6(652)년에 원효대사와 의상대사가 영치사와 송계암5개의 부속 암자를 세웠다고 전한다. 임란때 불타버린것을 숙송 (1675~1720)때 진명대사가 다시 지었으나 6.25전란으로 또 소실되었다가 1969년 에 다시 중수하였다.
