聖興寺는 新羅 진흥왕 8년(833)에 무염구사가 熊東地方에 侵入한 왜구를 물린친 것을 紀念하여 九川洞에 지었던 것을 후에 現在의 位置에 옮겨온 것으로 傳한다. 大雄殿의 創建年代는 알 수 없으며, 現在의 建物은 朝鮮後期에 다시 지어진 것이다. 正面3칸 側面3칸의 多상식맞배지붕 건물로 웅석의 기초 위에 세워졌다. 자연식 계축 위에 둥근기둥을 세우고 기둥머리에는 창석과 평방을 걸었으며,
