고려시대(1380년경)의 것으로 추정되는 마애여래조상이 있으며 주변에서 통일신라시대 이후의 기와조각이 수습되고 있어 옛 사지임을 알 수 있다. 현재의 사찰은 1970년 승려 전해산이 이곳에 사찰을 건축하고 성림사로 등록하였다.
