창건 연대 미상인 조그만한 암자형 사찰임. 원래 성도암은 계곡을 끼고 경사진 언덕위에 위치하였으나 동해저수지 축조로 수물되고 1994년에 현 위치로 이설 대웅전은 정면 3칸에 좌우측면 벽은 조적조로 쌓았으며 팔작지붕으로 한와를 얹었다. 법당안에 봉안된 불화가운데 나주시 정도리 금당사의 神衆幀과 나주시 청동리 불두사의 後佛幀이 걸려 있어 주목된다.
