선종 9산문(山門)의 하나. 935년(태조 18) 정진국사(靜眞國師) 긍양이 희양산의 봉암사(鳳巖寺)에서 선풍을 선양하여 하나의 문파가 이루어졌기 때문에 희양산 선문 또는 희양산 선파라고 한다. 신라시대의 선문구산은 명적선사 도의의 가지산문(장흥 보림사), 증각대사 홍척의 실상산문(남원 실상사), 적인선사 혜철의 동리산문(곡성 대안사), 통효선사 범일의 사굴산문(명주 굴산사), 원감선사 현욱의 봉림산문(창원 봉림사), 철감선사 도윤의 사자산문(영월 흥녕사), 지증대사 지선의 희양산문(문경 봉암사), 낭혜화상 무염의 성주산문(보령 성주사)와 진철대사 이엄의 수미산문(해주 광조사)을 말한다.
