1935년 4월경 사찰창건주인 혜득스님이 옛날 사찰터에 불사를 일으켜 건립 인근에서 출토된 기와 조각을 감정한 결과 700년이 넘었다는 것을 알 수 있게 되었고 이곳 보현사는 웅접사라는 절로서 한때 수도하는 대중이 살았는데 임진왜란대 화재로 인하여 소실됨.
