1912년 벽송사 주지스님 김동운 화상이 건립 1929년 인근 6개사찰이 연합 운영하면서 부속사업으로 유치원을 운영한 바 있으며, 1970년 해인사 조영산 화상이 부임하여 보림사라 개칭하여 현재에 이르고 있음
