신라시대에 창건한 것으로 전함. 1891년 불에 탄 것을 1914년 눌암 손치현이 사재로 재건 선암사 주지 정귀언이 옛송천사터에 백움암을 짓고 하백운암이라 했음. 1948년 여순반란사건시 상하백운암이 모두 소실되었으나 1963년 소구산이 재건
