사찰의 창건연대는 뚜렷하지 않으나 전하는 말에 의하면 고려때에 창건되고 조선초 폐사되었다 함. 그후 영조때 화재로 인하여 전소되고 사지만 전하여 오다가 1965년현주지 및 신도들의 도움으로 임시 법당을 지어 석불을 봉안함. 1979년 극락전과 삼성각 건립 1980년 선신을, 1996년 요사를 건립
