1938년 서정옥씨가 현재 석조관세음보살 입상 옆에 작은 암자를 세웠으며 한국동란으로 소실된 후 미륵사를 건립하여 사찰을 유지하여 왔음. 그후 김맹석시가 89~90년까지 20평의 법당과 180평의 요사를 3층 현대식 건물로 건립하여 사찰로 면모를 갖추고 있음.
