ㅇ 서기 646년(신라 선덕여왕 15년) 자장율사가 양산 통도사를 창건할 시기 함께 창건하였다고 전해지며, 한때 건물이 200칸을 넘었으며 오백나한을 모신 사찰로 유명했고, 수도승만 천여명이 있던 대가람이었다 하나, 1876년(조선 고종 13년) 불에 탄 이후 폐사되었던 것으로 추정된다.
