묘관음사는 통도사, 범어사, 도리사 등에서 종주로 계시던 운봉 대선사께서 말면에 서기 1934년(불기 2473년)에 가람지를 정하였으며, 그 후 향곡 대선사께서 법맥을 이어 창건하였음
