672년 義湘大師가 창건, 義湘臺와 天竺寺를 창건하기 전에 기거하던 곳으로 1784년 석불개금을 하였고 1938년 正觀 徐光前과 安普德씨가 증건하였다. 1941년 8월 退耕 權相老가 萬月庵記를 쓰고 善悟스님이 1999년5월19일 石佛坐像이 有形文化財 제121호로 지정될 수 있도록 하였고 2002년10월15일 慧空스님이 중수 하였다.
