고려시대 창건되었다가 폐쇄된 후 찬의 조중우가 신축하였고, 광무 11년 조창호가 중건, 1945년 승려 김학수가 다시 중수하였음. 1993년 차대술이 산신각, 대웅전을 신축하고 요사를 중수하였으며 88년도 극락전 신축, 99년 대웅전과 요사를 개축하였다.
