신동국여지승람(1531)에 금곡사의 기록이 있으나 18세기 이후에 간행된 책자에는 전혀 언급이 없음 1986년 이후금곡사 신도회 주축으로 불사를 진행하여 대웅전,천불전,명부전을 건립 사찰의 면모를 갖추어 나가고 있음
