백제시대 사찰로 전해오고 있으니 정확한 사력(寺歷)은 알려져 있지 않다. 다만 강희(康熙, 서기 1662~1772년까지 사용되었던 청나라 강희제의 연호)라는 연호(年號)가 새겨진 기와편이 사찰 주변에서 발견된 점으로 보아 구절암九節庵은 늦어도 1622-1722년 사이의 사찰로 추정된다.
