공림사는 낙영산 아래 위치한 사찰로 대한불교조계종 제5교구 본사 법주사의 말사이다. 잦은 병화로 인하여 옛 가람의 면모를 대부분 사라져 버리고 말았지만, 공림사가 조선 초기까지 자은종(慈恩宗)을 대표하는 사찰이었다는 사실 하나만 보더라도 이 사찰이 지니고 있는 역사적 중요성은 충분히 짐작할 수 있다. 낙영산공림사사적비에 실려있는 내용에 의하면 공림사의 창건시기는 신라 경문왕(861-875)때이며, 창건주는 자정스님이었다는 점을 알수 있다. 창건 이후 함허 득통(1376-1433)스님에 의해 크게 중창 된다. 현재 절에는 대웅전을 비롯해서 관음전, 삼성각, 범루종, 일주문, 요사및감인선원, 선심당으로 부르는 선원건물등이 있다. 총무보살 우진주 833-1029
