결성면 무량리 청룡산에 있는 고산사는 신라때 창건된 사찰이다. 전설로는 도선국사의 창건이라고 하나 알 길이 없다. 1961년 홍성군교육청에서 수리하고 1974년 홍성군청에서 소요경비 700만원으로 해체 복원하고 1984년도에 2,600만원으로 요사채를 복원하고 1990년 1,500만으로 대웅전 지붕보수 외 22m의 축대를 쌓아 고산사 경내를 새롭게 복원하였다. 대광보전과 석불 연대석(連臺石)은 문화재 보물 제399호로 지정되어 있다. 대광보전 중앙과 우편에 있는 불상은 토불이요, 우편의 석불은 입상이며 좌대석은 8각과 4각으로 되어있다. 고산사 사내에는 고산사 중수현판(高山寺 重修懸板)이 보관되어 있다.
