고려 공민왕때 왕사였던 나옹화상이 창건 조선 인조 2년(1624) 벽암대사 중수함 1938년 화재로 소실된 것을 당시 주지 윤원근이 중건 1896년 극락전, 삼선각, 요사를 모두 중창하였음.
